Join macro photographers Marit van Ekelenburg and Christian Brockes for an inspiring two-day macro retreat in the beautiful Olgarden in Deurningen, The Netherlands.
Over the course of two immersive days, everything revolves around macro photography. We’ll head out early to search for fascinating insects, explore creative compositions, learn techniques like focus stacking, and develop a deeper understanding of photographing the small world around us.
No matter your camera brand or experience level, this retreat offers the perfect opportunity to learn, experiment, and connect with like-minded enthusiasts.
What to Expect
Friday, June 19, 2026 – Arrival & Immersion
- Arrival and welcome at Olgarden
- Introductions and a relaxed start to the weekend
- Gear talk and camera settings (test equipment available)
- Guided walk through the garden: finding subjects, observing insects, and refining your macro approach
- Dinner together in a friendly, informal setting
- Evening session on composition, insect behavior, and focus techniques
- Practical shooting during an evening bug hunt
Saturday, June 20, 2026 – Shooting in the Best Light
- Early meet-up at sunrise (around 6:00 AM) for a hands-on photo session
- Apply newly learned techniques with personal guidance
- Shared breakfast and time for additional shooting, questions, and exchange
- Farewell in the late morning—leave inspired and ready for your next macro adventure
