Join us for photographic Expedition "Bears and Wolverines" with OM System Ambassador
We conduct bear photography from a hide where we enter in the afternoon and only exit in the morning. This allows us to spend the entire night there without disturbing the animals and provides us with the opportunity to photograph them during the golden hour.
There are a few places in Europe where you can be almost certain of encountering brown bears. There are several safe and nearly guaranteed locations that don't require months of preparation. One of the most renowned places is Finland. The photos you've seen in publications such as GEO, National Geographic, Terre Sauvage, and BBC Wildlife, featuring wild brown bears, were taken right there in the Finnish taiga. As this location is situated far to the north, the days are long, and the sparse forest provides excellent lighting conditions. Surrounding the hide are lakes, small and large ponds, creating diverse and interesting photographic backgrounds.
This year, we are offering an autumn date. While summer offers a longer day for field observations, it's less likely to see young bears with their mothers during that time. In the autumn, although the days are shorter, the taiga takes on beautiful autumn colors, making for an ideal photographic backdrop. It's also the perfect moment to capture images of the young bears, who, at this time, roam the forest with their mothers.
