Join OM SYSTEM Mentor David Blanchard for an immersive small-group photography workshop at the spectacular Maungatautari Mountain Reserve.
Set within one of New Zealand’s most significant conservation projects, Maungatautari offers a unique opportunity to photograph native New Zealand wildlife in a truly natural environment. Unlike a zoo or wildlife park, the birds and other native species are free to move through the sanctuary, making every encounter different and sometimes elusive. When the opportunities arise, however, the photography can be exceptional.
The workshop will explore a variety of photographic opportunities, from native birdlife and wildlife to the extraordinary trees, plants and natural surroundings of the mountain. With plenty of time to explore, David will share practical techniques and insights to help you make the most of the conditions, subjects and environment around you.
This workshop takes place in a natural forest environment, with walking required on undulating paths and walkways. A reasonable level of fitness is required to participate comfortably. Suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy, comfortable footwear are essential, and participants should be prepared for variable weather and forest conditions.
A selection of the latest OM SYSTEM camera bodies and lenses will be available for hands-on testing. Participants are encouraged to bring their own camera and lens to make the most of the experience. The event will proceed as planned, even in rainy weather.
